Pip Care has appointed Louis A. Shapiro, formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, effective immediately. Mr. Shapiro will bring nearly 40 years of experience leading, growing, and establishing organizations as best-in-class.
Pip Care CEO, Kathy Kaluhiokalani stated, “I am incredibly excited to welcome Lou as Chairman of the Board. Lou’s extensive experience building world class care delivery in complex surgical environments aligns well with Pip Care’s mission to continuously improve surgical outcomes, while removing the ever-increasing administrative work the care team must manage.”
Mr. Shapiro served as the Chief Executive Officer of HSS for 17 years. During his tenure, he and his team led the transformation of the New York provider to achieve U.S. News and World Reports No. 1 ranking for orthopedics for 14 consecutive years as well as the #1 world ranking by Newsweek. Prior to joining HSS, Mr. Shapiro served as executive vice president and COO at Geisinger. Mr. Shapiro will leverage his extensive experience to guide Pip Care leadership as it continues to partner with health systems providing best-in-class surgical optimization.
“The U.S. healthcare system needs to be transformed and Pip Care is positioned to make a meaningful contribution to this transformation,” said Lou Shapiro. “I am excited to join the Board of Pip Care and work with the team to achieve their goals with their digitally enabled care management platform.”
Pip Care is currently working with leading health systems such as UPMC and UChicago Medicine. In June, Pip Care will expand its platform (PIP) to include Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
